Exercise Bikes

One of the best pieces of home exercise equipment has to be the exercise bike as they are so easy to use, after all we have all cycled at some time in our lives and so using an exercise bike is almost second nature.

An exercise bike can also burn allot of calories if used for a good amount of time and really improve your fitness. 30 minutes is the official recommendation but I always try to do 40-60 minutes or even more if I'm feeling like a very good work out! Just remember the more you do the more calories you will burn and so this should motivate you to carry on although you should always stop if you are struggling to continue and are exhausted.

There are a few things that are worth looking for when you buy an exercise bike and the first has to the the amount of resistance settings it has as the ones with more allow for a greater control of how hard it is to cycle. Programmes are also very useful as these change the resistance at intervals and so make for an interesting work out and it is said that this burns calories more as the body is having to constantly adjust to the resistance.

Also look at the type of resistance as the magnetic exercise bikes are better and will last longer. And the LCD console is also important as some offer more information than others with the ones that can monitor your heart beat rate being the best as this is very useful information. This is because you should try and stay in your ideal heart beat rate for your age as this is the most efficient way of exercising.
