Salad has got to be one of the healthiest meals that you can eat but many people seem to almost have a phobia of it, it can be made very nice though if you just put some thought into it and that does not mean covering it in high fat dressing! Simply adding extras like low fat coleslaw, tomato salsa can really liven up a salad and also consider adding interesting vegetables like spring onions, peppers and even chilli peppers to spice things up.
| We're not going to give a recipe for salad as it is far
too easy to make and it varies so much depending on what you like, the
important thing is to use as many different vegetables as you can to
get the maximum benefit from it. You can easily get 5 simply by using
lettuce, onion, cucumber, tomatoes and peppers and there are also lots
more that you can add such as sweetcorn, beetroot, olives, radishes,
mushrooms, grated carrot, spring onions, avocado and many others. |

| You can
also easily add other food to a salad and the most popular has to be lean
meat, adding some chicken breast for example really adds to a salad and
another popular choice is lean ham. Then there are items like egg and
potato salad that can also make a salad very tasty. The main thing is to use as many healthy ingredients as you can, the supermarkets have a huge choice these days and so there is no excuse for just using lettuce. Salad is a very healthy meal and so if you just choose to have it once or twice per week as your main meal then it will do you the world of good. |
