Treadmills

Running is one of the best exercises that you can do as it is very intensive over a long period of time but running outdoors can have problems such as the weather and so a treadmill is a great addition to your home exercise equipment as you can run any time you choose and also entertain yourself as you do with television or music.

Using a treadmill is quite a high impact exercise on the joints such as the knees though and so if you have had problems with joints then you should consider another form of exercise equipment such as an exercise bike. They are excellent machines though and most people do not have a problem, be sure to start slowly when you begin using the treadmill and you should be fine. Always start on a light resistance and incline and build these up over time as you become more fit.

The incline is the angle at which the treadmill is positioned and so a steep incline will replicate running up a hill which is much more intensive than running on flat. The speed setting is also very important as you do not want to be running too fast or you could become too exhausted or even have an accident and so always run within your ability. Using a treadmill is a great way to burn calories and lose weight though as it is such an easy exercise to perform and is also quite intensive and so the calories will disappear in no time.

There are a few things to consider when you buy a treadmill and so be sure to study the product information before you buy. They are often very large and so you need to be sure that you have the space although some to fold for easy storage. The speed is also very important as they all have a top speed and these vary quite allot, the cheap treadmills generally do not have a very fast top speed but they are still often fine as many of the top treadmills with very fast speeds are designed for professionals.

Also have a look at the information that is given from the LCD console as these also vary and some are better than others, the time, speed, distance and calories are the basics but some also offer your heart beat rate from sensors in the hand grips and this is also very useful so look out for those.
